Domestic and National First Heavy Vehicle Engine Started

Designed by BMC Power using domestic and national engineering capabilities and produced with domestic and national facilities, the 6-cylinder, 585 horsepower Heavy Vehicle Engine was successfully commissioned in ITU OTAM laboratories!

As a result of BMC Power’s success, a plaque ceremony was held on Thursday, July 19, 2018 within the Rectorate of Istanbul Technical University. Rector of ITU Prof.Dr. Dr. Mehmet Karaca, ITU ARI Teknokent General Manager Kenan Çolpan, BMC Power General Manager. Osman Dur, Member of the Executive Board of OTAM Ekrem Özcan and many important names of the sector participated. ITU Rector Prof. Dr. Mehmet Karaca presented a plaque to the General Manager Osman Dur on behalf of BMC Power.

 

Speaking within the scope of the event, Rector of ITU. Dr. Mehmet Karaca said; “ITU is the school of firsts and widths. This kind of tests in our school in Otam and the successful completion of it feeds the rooted culture of ITU. Thank you to everyone who contributed.”

 

General Manager of BMC Power Osman Dur said; “As we develop this engine, we strive to create an ecosystem that will develop new technologies by following competitive technologies. To this end, we aim to provide industrial companies with production infrastructure with which we cooperate, to provide engineering capability in our field and to enable universities to use their academic strengths and research infrastructures more effectively. As long as we carry out this work in a coordinated framework ecosystem will emerge nice things in Turkey. ”

First prototype completed at BMC Izmir facilities

 

The first prototype production of the 6 cylinder, 585 horsepower heavy vehicle engine, which was designed in February 2017, was completed in June 2018 at BMC İzmir facilities and made ready for testing. The engine was first started in July 2018 in OTAM laboratories.

 

BMC Power, which continues its activities with the aim of an internationally strong engineering company in engine, transmission and control systems, continues to design and manufacture 1000 horsepower new generation armored vehicle and 1500 horsepower Altay Tank power group.
